Subject matter classroom teachers tailor their instruction to match each student’s level of understanding, whether they are tackling AP Calculus or Algebra. On-the-Go Education

Our program is built to accommodate the demanding travel schedules of elite athletes. Students can take their coursework with them on the road, allowing them to continue their studies uninterrupted as they compete against other top athletic programs across the country. With the use of Zoom, students maintain at least three hours of classroom interaction per week per subject, ensuring they remain engaged and on track with their studies.

Annual Assessments and Individualized Plans

Each year, students undergo comprehensive assessments in core subjects such as English, Math, Social Studies, and Science. Based on these assessments, our dedicated teaching and counseling staff work closely with families to develop personalized academic plans. These plans are designed to meet the California A-G standards and the requirements of the NCAA clearinghouse, ensuring our students are well-prepared for their future academic and athletic endeavors.

Ongoing Support and Monitoring

Our flexible platform enables counselors, teachers, and families to continuously monitor student progress. This collaborative approach ensures that no student falls behind, providing timely support and intervention when needed. Extensive Course Catalogue and Advanced Learning Opportunities

At DNA, we pride ourselves on offering a vast and diverse course catalogue designed to meet the varied interests and academic goals of our students. Our curriculum goes beyond the core subjects, providing access to advanced classes and specialized courses that many other schools do not offer.

Through our innovative virtual learning platform, students can enroll in a wide range of advanced classes that extend beyond the scope of our core coursework. These virtual teachers bring expertise and passion to subjects such as Advanced Placement (AP) courses, specialized sciences, higher-level mathematics, and niche humanities topics, ensuring our students have the opportunity to explore their academic interests in depth.

All coursework completed through our virtual platform is fully accredited and will be reflected on the student’s final transcript, demonstrating their commitment to academic excellence alongside their athletic achievements. This flexibility allows our students to pursue a challenging and enriching educational experience tailored to their unique aspirations and schedules.

Admissions Qualifications for DNA Prep Academy High School

Academic Excellence

  • Minimum GPA: Applicants should have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale from their previous school.
  • Standardized Test Scores: Submission of standardized test scores (e.g., SSAT, ISEE) is required, with scores in the top 20th percentile preferred. This requirement can be waived by the admissions office in conjunction with advisement from the coach of the applicant’s sport that they are attending school for.  
  • Transcripts: Submission of official transcripts from the past two years of schooling.

Personal Qualities

  • Recommendations: Two letters of recommendation from current or former teachers, coaches, or community leaders who can speak to the applicant’s character, work ethic, and potential.
  • Essay: A personal essay (500-700 words) detailing the applicant’s interests, achievements, and reasons for wanting to attend our school.
  • Interview: A personal interview with a member of the admissions committee to assess the applicant’s communication skills, personality, and fit for the school community.

Extracurricular Involvement (Optional)

  • Leadership Roles: Evidence of leadership roles in school or community activities, such as student government, clubs, or sports teams.
  • Community Service: Demonstrated commitment to community service and volunteer work.
  • Arts: Participation in arts (e.g., music, theater, visual arts), showcasing a well-rounded personality.

Athletic Qualifications

  • Athletic Performance: Documentation of athletic achievements, including awards, recognitions, and statistics. A highlight reel or video showcasing the applicant’s skills and performances in their sport is encouraged.
  • Coach Recommendation: A letter of recommendation from the applicant’s current coach, detailing the applicant’s abilities, dedication, sportsmanship, and potential for growth.
  • Team Experience: Evidence of participation in competitive sports teams, including school teams, club teams, or other organized sports leagues.
  • Fitness Assessment: A recent fitness assessment or evaluation demonstrating the applicant’s physical capabilities and readiness to compete at a high level.
  • Athletic Interview: An additional interview with the school’s athletic director or coaching staff to discuss the applicant’s sports goals, commitment, and fit within the school’s athletic programs.

  • Financial Aid: Financial aid is available based on need. Applicants wishing to be considered for financial aid must submit the necessary documentation by the deadline.
