2020/2021 School Year Program Highlights

The 2020/21 iDNA Learning Academy is a student-athlete development program designed with the flexibility needed to maximize results while nimbly and safely navigating the rapidly changing COVID-19 environment. All students will be provided with a safe, supervised and most up to date COVID-compliant on-campus learning environment – affording working families with peace of mind. All iDNA students’ independent studies will be monitored and administered in block time periods to allow the creation of small classroom groups (“Quaranteams”) that provides the flexibility needed to safely administer both academic and athletic development. All students who are Quaranteamed together will receive twice daily tutoring sessions on the subject matter that they are blocked off with that day and small group training sessions. .

Program Logistics

Learning Centers Schedule:  Our learning centers are open Monday through Thursday. We will be implementing staggered start times between 7:45AM and 8:30 AM and staggered end times of 2:45PM to 3:30PM to help facilitate necessary distancing and daily health testing at drop-off and pick-up.

Supported Courses for Virtual Tutoring:  To facilitate an efficient program that maximizes the learning day, our virtual small group tutoring sessions will teach to the four core classes – English, Math, Science, and Social Studies.

Athletic Training Elective: Students may add our athletic training package to their schedule for an additional minimal fee. We provide sport-specific skill training in Baseball, Basketball, Football, and Soccer. Every student-athlete who elects to participate in the athletic training elective receives six hours a week of trainings from the industry’s top performance and sport-specific coaches.

Physical Education Elective: We are also providing a very cost effective option to earn the required physical education credits mandated by the state for iDNA students who are not interested in participating in highly competitive sports. This program is designed with less intensity and more cardio-related activities to help maintain a high level of health for all of our students.

Stay-Home Solutions: Our program is integrated with virtual tutoring sessions for two primary reasons: 1) to reduce exposure of our tutors to students and vice versa; and 2) to allow for a seamless transition to home-based studies if mandated by the State, County, or City. In addition to virtual academic support, the iDNA program has virtually supported training sessions designed to be implemented when needed. Students will continue to get top performance training and skill-based instruction utilizing live streaming technology and efficient training tools that can be used at home.

Safety Implementation

iDNA Academy continues to use the utmost of caution regarding the health and safety of our students when they return to campus this fall. We have been following guidelines recommended by the CDC, Johns Hopkins, and the California Department of Health. We have established specific protocols and procedures moving forward applicable to all campus visitors, employees, and our overall facilities.

Proper distancing protocols:

  • Staggered drop-off and pick-up times to reduce the number of people on campuses and to control congestion and confusion.
  • Small classroom/training Quaranteams that allow for proper social distancing practices
  • Staggered lunch times, while maintaining proper distance by limiting the lunch groups to each Quaranteam.
  • Limiting each classroom to only one Quaranteam to limit cross-contamination virus exposure.
  • Access to campus is limited to required individuals, and many employees are will work remotely, helping to limit the amount of people we have on campus at any given time.
  • Facilities and common areas will be rearranged to help facilitate proper social distancing, which will be enforced and monitored regularly
  • Shifting as much of the daily coursework to outdoor settings – as weather permits

Health monitoring steps:

  • All students must have temperature taken at drop off before being permitted to exit car at drop-off.
  • All staff must have temperature taken upon arrival
  • Quarantining (staying home) of entire Quaranteam when one member of the grouping becomes ill with COVID or is exposed to COVID

Exposure mitigating protocol:

  • Employees will wear face coverings while on campus and continue social distancing practices until otherwise directed by the CDC.
  • Students will be required to wear face coverings when on campus (including during training sessions)
  • Hand washing stations and sanitizer stations placed throughout the campus.
  • Continuous cleaning regimen of learning centers, training areas, equipment, communal areas, and bathrooms.
  • All commonly used surfaces will be disinfected regularly including major touch points, card readers, door handles, elevator buttons, etc.
